Township of Barnegat | Ocean County, NJ

Van Cleef was contracted by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Ocean County to provide surveying services in order to prepare a Green Acres Survey for a land swap deal between the State and County located in Barnegat, New Jersey. Ocean County was looking to acquire land owned by the state surrounding the historic Cedar Bridge Tavern in order to aid in the preservation of the historic location believed to be the location of the last known skirmish during the Revolutionary War in 1782.

The project involved locating survey evidence and features on 472 acres of property in the area of the Cedar Bridge Tavern and surrounding lots, including finding ancient boundary evidence dating back to the 1700s. Van Cleef resolved boundary locations and prepared Green Acres Survey maps of all of the lots involved in the land swap deal.

Upon completion, Ocean County went to work in maintain and preserving the historic landmark which is open to the public.
