Van Cleef was contracted by Community Medical Center, Inc. to provide surveying and engineering services in order to prepare a topographic survey and site plan for a helicopter pad installation on the roof of Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey. Upon completion of the project, the hospital would be able to land emergency helicopters on the roof of the hospital instead of on a baseball field across the highway, saving considerable time in emergency situations.
The project involved locating features and elevations on top of the roof including all utilities and structures to aid in design of the helicopter pad. Van Cleef provided the Topographic Survey of the roof and the Site Plan preceding construction of the pad and respective steel structures.
During construction, Van Cleef worked in conjunction with construction crews to locate existing steel beams of the hospital and to stake out the location of the proposed beams for the new steel pad and walkway to the elevator shaft. Van Cleef provided the construction company with maps and diagrams to aid in construction and was on site with construction crews as necessary to oversee the completion of construction.
