Van Cleef was contracted by NJDOT for the in-depth inspection of 110 State owned Cantilever and Span-Type sign structures. Structures are located on high volume roadways such as US Route 1, 1T, 9, 22, 202 and 206; Interstates 78, 195, 280 and 287; and State Routes 18, 21, 22 and 440. Structure types included aluminum and steel structures, consisting of 1 to 4 chord trusses. Work included daytime and mostly nighttime inspections using NJDOT-approved mobile lane closures, ultrasonic testing of anchor bolts, updating/developing CADD sketches, and updating the web-based NJDOT Sign Structure Database (Bentley CombIS), and preparation of a final report for each structure. All work will follow current NJDOT and FHWA requirements.
