Van Cleef performed a subsurface geotechnical investigation at the Egg Harbor Housing site to identify subsurface soil conditions. Our evaluation of the data indicated that the proposed structures may be supported on conventional shallow foundations consisting of spread footings bearing on the natural sedimentary soils or compacted structural fill, if required. The loose sand of Stratum A must be compacted following removal of topsoil and prior to raising grade. Excavated materials are suitable for reuse on-site. Footings bearing on the natural sedimentary soils of Stratum B, compacted soils of Stratum A or compacted structural fill may be designed for a maximum allowable net bearing pressure of 3,000 pounds per square foot (1.5 tsf).
Van Cleef also provided construction inspection services to ensure that the geotechnical recommendations are being followed.
