Van Cleef was contracted by Client Division of Property Management to design the rehabilitation of the 4000 ft. long dam and spillway structure which includes constructing a new concrete spillway and headwalls. This project included replacing the deteriorated / rotted timber stoplogs with new aluminum stoplogs, installing a hydraulic operated low level outlet gate in the spillway, and constructing sheet piling to prevent seepage along the new outlet structure. The road along crest of dam was reconstructed and a steel backed timber guiderail was installed. Riprap slope protection and articulated concrete block overtopping protection was constructed. Utilities located within dam embankment were relocated. Lake Nummy was dredged in order to increase the depth approximately 2.5 feet. Sedimentary and vegetative material was placed on Belleplain State Forest property and was graded and seeded. The Dredged material was in an abandoned gravel pit. Material considered trash was removed off site and disposed of in a lawful manner. The swimming area was dredged and covered with 2’ of clean sand with a maximum finished depth not greater than 6’ at the farthest point of the swimming area.
