The Lawrence-Hopewell Trail

Pennington-Rocky Hill Road at Bailey Drive | Hopewell Township, Mercer County | New Jersey

Van Cleef was retained to obtain funding from the NJDOT for construction of a portion of the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail, a trail connecting Lawrence and Hopewell Township in Mercer County, New Jersey that has 19 of its eventually 22 miles completed.

Upon approval of funding, engineering plans and bid specifications were provided. The work included a 10’ wide porous bituminous trail, a solar powered rectangular rapid flashing beacon (LED RRFB), extensive landscaping, crosswalk improvements, ADA ramps, guide rail, striping and restoration. The initial phase of the project included public outreach and meetings with the public and D&R Greenway to review the project and address concerns regarding pedestrian safety.

Van Cleef provided complete engineering services from project inception through final acceptance.
