Van Cleef was contracted by the County of Mercer to provide Land Development Services for Multiple Expansion Parking Lots and Facilities at Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN). The project consisted of the rehabilitation of the existing terminal parking lot, expansion of an adjacent parking lot and the construction of a new employee/rental car/cell phone waiting parking lot. Upon completion of the project a total of over 1100 parking spaces are now available at the terminal. One of the key components of the project was the installation of a paid parking system that would allow the County
of Mercer to charge users for parking. The system included a computer-based parking control system, gates, and automated pay stations.
Van Cleef worked in conjunction with other firms to develop complete site plans, construction plans and specifications for the project. Van Cleef provided all grading, drainage, and stormwater design along with all agency approvals. Agency approvals included Ewing Township Planning Board, Mercer County Planning Board, Delaware and Raritan Canal Commission and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection wetlands permitting. The design and permitting services for this project
had to be expedited so that construction could occur during a two-month airport shutdown period.
The parking lot expansion project was one of three major construction contracts that were undertaken by the County of Mercer during the two-month shutdown of theĀ airport. Van Cleef continues to work with the County of Mercer at the Trenton Mercer Airport to develop additional remote parking lots as the airport expands and Frontier Airlines expands their services from Trenton-Mercer Airport.
