Raritan Agway in Need of Redevelopment Investigation

Borough of Raritan | Somerset County, NJ

The Borough of Raritan contains an abandoned former Agway site adjacent to its train station. Such a site represented a prime candidate for redevelopment under the state’s Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL). Before such a redevelopment designation can occur, an investigation must be conducted to evaluate the merits of the study area as an Area in Need of Redevelopment pursuant to criteria specified in the LRHL.

Van Cleef was tasked with conducting this investigation and preparing a report on behalf of the Borough of Raritan Planning Board. This study included a site field inspection and photography, review of the history of the property, and evaluation of the facts against the criteria specified in the LRHL.
