Van Cleefwas tasked by the Township of Washington for the design and construction of a one and one-half mile hiking trail system winding through the existing woods and wetlands at Tantum Park, located north of Route 130 in Washington Township.
Van Cleef worked alongside members of the Planning Board to establishthe best location of the trail, flagging the trail, coordinating the blazing of the trail through the woods, evaluating bids, and selecting the appropriate contractor.
Van Cleef established sites for approximately eighteen viewing/educational stations that were accompanied by plaques providing educational descriptions at each station. Van Cleef coordinated the written text for the plaques, their preparation with a local sign company, and their placement along the trail system.
