Van Cleef’s surveying team was asked to assist one of our engineers with the creation of plans for an existing geodesic salt dome for one of our municipal clients. The dome needed a new roof and replacement of various internal framing members. Original plans for the dome had been lost, and due to the complex shape a plan was needed to show the roof area and identify the structural repairs required. This plan would be used for the public bid process. Van Cleef performed a High-Definition Laser Scan of the inside and outside of the dome. This allowed for the calculation of the roof area as well as the creation of framing details to allow the DPW Supervisor and our Engineer to identify areas in need of repair. Van Cleef handled the bid process, and the project was completed successfully by the roofing contractor.
