Van Cleef provided traffic, roadway, stormwater management, and survey services from planning, design, and through construction support, for the Replacement of Bridge O-10 over Deal Lake between South Wanamassa Drive in Ocean Township and Bridge Street in the City of Asbury Park. Sunset Avenue also required realignment, sight distance, drainage, and ADA compliant improvements. Project elements included designing horizontal and vertical geometric alignments on the bridge and adjacent intersections, evaluation of existing substructure and sight distance and the adjacent intersections and other roadway features, drainage design, implementing a long detour route, temporary construction easements, and utility relocations. This project was designed per Monmouth County, NJDOT and AASHTO design standards. The project also needed extensive community outreach, including stakeholders in both Ocean Township and the City of Asbury Park, as well as NJ Transit. This was a federally funded project with NJDOT oversight.
