Van Cleef provided year-round engineering consulting services for the biennial NBIS inspection of the DRJTBC’s 56 Bridges, including 20 Major River Crossings, 7 Toll Facilities, 13 Toll Supported Facilities, Administration and Maintenance Facilities. The work also included the preparation of the Annual Inspection Report and Annual Maintenance Reports, and other miscellaneous services.

Along with the 36 approach structures, main Delaware River Bridge crossing types included multiple-span Warren, Pratt and Phoenix trusses as well as suspension, cantilever suspension, thru-girder, 7-span continuous, and pin-hanger girder bridges. Inspection work included daily coordination with DRJTBC Maintenance for the use of underbridge inspection equipment, cable rigging access, high lift buckets, and traffic control along high volume US highways such as US 1, US 202, Interstate 78, Interstate 80, and US 22. As part of the General Engineering Consultant Assignment, Van Cleef worked directly with DRJTBC to prepare a Capital Improvement Program, including detailed cost estimates for improvements, expenditures, and
maintenance items.
