Van Cleef provided design services to Monmouth County for improvements to the Crawford’s Circle, and replacement of Bridge O-11, located just north of the circle. Crawfords Circle was reconstructed and replaced with a modern landscaped roundabout to enhance aesthetics, traffic calming and safety. The intersection to the north was also reconstructed to improve geometrics and safety.
The overall project involved survey and mapping, ROW documentation, horizontal & geometric design, roundabout design, grading design, landscaping and lighting design, utility relocation, design of ADA curb ramps, maintenance and protection of traffic design involving detours and temporary pedestrian bridge, drainage design, guide rail design, bulkhead design, and design of a new bridge. The project was constructed adjacent to an at-grade NJ Transit railroad crossing, requiring coordination with, and approvals, by NJ Transit.
