Van Cleef was contracted by the County of Ocean to provide design services and develop construction and bid documents for the reconstruction and resurfacing of approximately 2.5 miles of Lacey Road. The project included pedestrian signal upgrades and ADA ramp improvements for Lacey Road from the Garden State Parkway to U.S. Route 9 in Lacey Township.
Resurfacing consisted of a 2-inch milling and overlay along Lacey Road, up to the nearest pavement seam. As part of the project, the existing curb ramps and connecting sidewalks within the County’s right-of-way were evaluated and upgraded to meet ADA and PROWAG standards.
Additionally, four signalized intersections within the project limits were upgraded to meet current MUTCD, ADA, and PROWAG standards. This effort included revised timing directives at each signal.
Other improvements along this County roadway included the replacement of sections of deteriorated corrugated metal storm drainpipes, identification and evaluation of drainage issues, resetting manholes, upgrading inlets to bicycle safe grates and eco-friendly curb pieces. The existing drainage systems within the project limits were surveyed and “as-builts” of the drainage networks developed. Field evaluations were conducted to identify issues and develop strategies to implement various improvements along the roadway.
