New Hope – Lambertville Toll Facility Pavement ​ and Bridge Rehabilitation​

Van Cleef was contracted by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) to provide preliminary, final and post design services, for maintenance repairs and reconstruction of bituminous roadways, inspection and rehabilitation of concrete approach roadways and repairs to the approach structures to the New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge. The limits of work included approximately 5,000 feet of US Route 202 and ramps within the DRJTBC’s jurisdiction.

The project included an innovative design utilizing cold in-place recycled base course for the reconstruction of the bituminous roadway and ramps along US Route 202. In total, the contract included the rehabilitation and reconstruction of nearly a mile of bituminous and concrete roadway, drainage improvements at ramp in-fields; repainting of light standards, sign structures and the NJ Route 29 bridge superstructure, and repair, rehabilitation, and seismic improvements to the approach bridges carrying US Route 202 over PA Route 32 and US Route 202 over NJ Route 29.

Work efforts included in-depth field inspections of existing bituminous and concrete pavement along US Route 202 and ramps, structural inspections of the existing approach structures to determine design scope, design of bearing replacements and jacking, replacement of deck joints, development of painting requirements, traffic engineering for detailed maintenance and protection of traffic plans, coordination with PennDOT and NJDOT utility coordination, pavement design for cold in-place recycled base course, topographic surveys, and drainage system improvements.
