PROJECT

Denow Road Traffic Calming

Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey

The project consisted of the installation of various traffic calming devices along a portion of Denow Road to improve safety. Van Cleef Engineering Associates obtained the first NJDOT Local Aid Grant to fully fund a traffic calming project.

Van Cleef Engineering Associates prepared conceptual plans and coordinated the project with several local homeowner associations, the Township of Hopewell and the NJDOT. The design included speed humps, neckdowns, raised intersection and a roundabout. Also included were drainage modifications, signage and striping. Van Cleef Engineering handled all aspect of the project including initial public outreach, NJDOT grant application, field surveying, preparation of plans and specifications, bidding, construction stake-out, construction inspection and contract administration.

The residents and the Township now enjoy the improved safety that a traffic calming can afford.
