PROJECT

Hopewell Township Salt Storage Barn

Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey

Van Cleef Engineering was contracted by The Township of Hopewell to plan and design a new, 2,200-ton salt storage barn to replace their existing structurally un-sound salt storage barn. Van Cleef performed a site survey and geotechnical investigations to determine the best location for the new barn. Construction plans were produced, and the project was bid and awarded.

Van Cleef also provided construction administration, construction stake-out and construction inspection services. During construction it was determined that there was soil and ground water contamination left over from the old barn. Van Cleef coordinated with a licensed site remediation professional (LSRP) to manage the contaminated soil and water in order to complete the project.

As part of Van Cleef’s contract, approvals were obtained from the Delaware and Raritan Canal Commission and the Mercer County Soil Conservation district.
